Description

On this episode, join Dennis, Ed, Garret, Kate, and Karen as we take our first dive into one of anime's tougher fandoms to get into: Legend of the Galactic Heroes. We're starting with 1988's pilot OVA/first movie, My Conquest is the Sea of Stars. Two warring factions with their respective brilliant strategists who are still trying to earn the respect of their commanding officers, it's our first look at Yang Wen-Li and Reinhard von Müsel (who later becomes Reinhard von Lohengramm). We make some obvious comparisons to the Gundam, Macross, and Star Blazers franchises, appreciating the classical music after watching Princess Tutu, figuring out if these military tactics are actually brilliant or not, so much laserdisc talk, and too many mentions of skirts. So whether you're taking 5 ships or 8,000 ships for a diversion, we've got you covered. While the complete collection for Legend of the Galactic Heroes is long sold out on Blu-ray, you can still support the show by either donating to our Ko-Fi link below, or by purchasing the first LOGH novel on Kindle through our Amazon affiliate link: https://amzn.to/3zihcYg Dennis: @ichnob | Ed: @ippennokuinashi | Garrett: @blkriku | Karen: @RyaCosplay | Kate: @TaikoChan Website | Email | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | RSS | Ko-Fi

Titles in the series (100)

A group of friends, a disc of anime, a bottle of wine...better make it two. We're an anime podcast taking a look back at some older anime titles on physical media, and seeing if they still hold up or not. Sometimes time lets us appreciate overlooked titles, while other instances require us to remove those rose-tinted glasses. So grab a glass of wine and have a listen.
