Bobby Joe Long, who was born in West Virginia in 1953, had a difficult childhood. He assaulted dozens of women in the early 1980s after utilizing newspaper ads to find victims. In 1984, he went on an eight-month murdering spree until being apprehended in November after letting one possible victim go free. Long was sentenced to death twice, but his execution has been postponed due to multiple appeals.
