Description

Music has special meaning in times when we’re struggling or grieving. In the Austin, Texas area an organization called Swan Songs provides music for people who are living with a life-limiting illness.  The professional musicians who work with Swan Songs gather with the patient and family to play a concert of the patient’s favorite type of music. One of the artists will even write a song especially for the terminally ill person.  Co-founder Christine Albert started Swan Songs after she was invited to sing for a couple of people who were nearing the end of their lives. Members of Austin’s vibrant music community donate their time through this non-profit organization. Find out more about Swan Songs or make a donation to support their work on swansongs.org.  You can find out more about us on theheartofhospice.com.  There’s information on self care, advance care planning, and resources for both personal and professional caregivers.
