Description
Today's podcast was originally recorded on June 18, 2018 and features a discussion. Bingham Group CEO A.J. Bingham and returning guest Rob Henneke, General Counsel and Director of the Center for the American Future at the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF).
On February 15th 2018 the Austin City Council approved a new rule requiring businesses in the city to provide paid sick leave for employees, but movement is already afoot in the Texas Legislature to kill the ordinance.
On April 24, TPPF, representing a business coalition including the National Federation of Independent Business, the Texas Association of Business and the American Staffing Association, filed a legal challenge to the ordinance.
The ordinance is scheduled to go into effect for businesses on Oct. 1. A Travis County District Court judge denied TPPF's request for a temporary injunction that would have halted the rules on June 26.
