Following September 11th 2001, Mark made continuous deployments in support of the Global War on Terror, participating in hundreds of special operations missions around the world, including the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips during the Maersk Alabama hijacking and as a team leader on Operation Neptune Spear, the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. The Maersk Alabama lifeboat and model of Osama bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan can be found in the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida.
