Description
As someone who has lived outside of her home country for more than twenty years, it was very easy for me to relate to my guest on this episode. Amy Amann spent most of her career in leadership development and human resources, but she did it away from her home. After doing her MBA, Amy decided she wanted to explore the world and live abroad, so she found a job in Germany. Many years later, and after having a successful career in Europe, Amy decided it was time to come back to her home in Minneapolis. But, it’s not easy to go back. I sit down with Amy to talk about culture shock, making big decisions in the face of uncertainty and reinventing yourself, particularly when you never really feel like you’re part of a community. Amy Amann is leveraging her extensive international experience in Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness as an HR Consultant and Cross-Cultural Coach. Highly curious and always seeking to solve problems and improve the world around her, she finds that the resourcefulness, resilience, and openness that enabled her success as an expat are useful everywhere. Amy helps companies engage with their people in ways that amplify their business operations, and works with expats, immigrants, and leaders to be successful in their global careers. She is enjoying her repatriation and re-acclimation journey in the US. This is a public episode.
