James Franklin and his Penn State Nittany Lions football team is really good. Just not good enough to join Ryan Day and his Ohio State Buckeyes football team among the top 2 in the Big 10. They will get another chance to show they belong when they face the Michigan Wolverines football team later this season. However, until then, the Nittany Lions have a glaring weakness they may not be able to overcome; their offensive attack is not vertical enough because they don't have a Marvin Harrison Jr.- type receiver to take the top off an opposing defense. 
Meanwhile, the Michigan Wolverines looked just about perfect in their 49-0 shutout against the Michigan State Spartans. Generational quarterback J.J. McCarthy threw 4 touchdown passes on the night. If there was any distraction from the Wolverines Spygate story this week, Jim Harbaugh and his team certainly did not show it. 
Cooper Dejean looked like he led the Iowa Hawkeyes to an amazing comeback with his punt return for a winning score, but referees said he made an invalid motion for a fair catch which negated the touchdown and the Minnesota Golden Gophers held on to win. It was the first time PJ Fleck won vs Iowa in his career.   
Congrats to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights who beat the Indiana Hoosiers and became bowl-eligible. 
The Wisconsin Badgers, down 21-7 in the 4th quarter, scored 18 unanswered points for the win over the Illinois Fighting Illini. 
Nebraska Cornhuskers are getting their act together and beat the Northwestern Wildcats Saturday.
