Description
Here’s a new series for ya – 10x Programs! In this series, we are going to cover how to make existing badges 10 times more exciting OR how to create a program that doesn’t currently exist in the National Program Portfolio that is 10 times more exciting than anything you’re going to find in the toolkit, all while maintaining alignment with GSLE!
This week we are talking about sewing and embroidery! Are you or are your girls disappointed that there is NO sewing badge even for older girls? In this episode we are covering some ideas of how to create a 10x sewing and embroidery program for your girls!
DISCOVER SEWING – Learn some sewing basics like different kinds of sewing and the tools and equipment used. CONNECT LOCALLY – Go meet a seamstress or tailor and learn about what they do. CONNECT GLOBALLY – Learn about where clothes are made and the working conditions for some popular or favorite brands and stores. HANDS-ON LEARNING – Practice some basic sewing skills… such as reattaching buttons, hemming pants, fixing loose seams, and sewing badges or patches on uniforms! Girls can also practice an embroidery project. SEEKING CHALLENGES – Pose a sewing challenge for your troop! Make stuffed animals, pillows, cat toys, bags/purses, or something else!
