The Los Angeles Angels often get asked the question: "how can an organization waste the talents of two once-in-a-lifetime players like Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani?" This was the question that led our friend Sam Blum of The Athletic to inquire about and understand the shortcomings of this Halos franchise, and there are many areas to cover, starting with the the lack of investment in player development. In segment 1, we'll look at the Angels' shortcomings in this department and how that's affected the roster in 2023.
Then, what about all the injuries this year? What do other teams do that the Angels do not? We'll share Sam's findings about the Angels' staff and how other teams go above and beyond for their players to keep them on the field in segment 2.
