In this re-release episode, Dr. Andrew Cutler interviews Dr. Katherine Warburton about the history of criminalization of serious mental illness, the efforts to decriminalize mental illness, and the development and success of diversion programs. Dr. Katherine Warburton is Medical Director/Deputy Director of Clinical Operations for the California Department of State Hospitals. Prior to that, she was the Chief of Forensic Psychiatry at Napa State Hospital. She is on the volunteer clinical faculty of the UC Davis Division of Psychiatry and the Law.
