The REACH programme, which includes resources for patients, clinicians, and clinics, can improve alcohol recording in the general practice setting. Enhanced alignment between national policy and clinical need can support preventive health innovations through existing channels. When appropriately resourced and supported, general practice can deliver alcohol brief interventions in daily practice.
