(9/12/23) Options traders continue to pile-in to short-dated options, or Zero-DTE (Days to Expiration) options, essentially gambling in terms of the general market. This is no surprise, considering we've gone 95-days without any significant 1.5% correction, and there's basically no volatility, and no real concern in terms of taking on risk. Despite a 5% correction in August, which did lead to a small up-tick in volatility, that has now becalmed. So, volatility levels are as low as they've ever been since September of last year. But here's the deal: Ultra-low volatility eventually leads to high volatility, and so the current level should be viewed as a warning sign of things to come.
