(7/19/23) Markets are excited as earnings season progresses with results beating (lowered) estimates; pay attention to what companies are saying about their earnings: Are they making more money...or less? Markets seem to be getting ahead of themselves; the small cap index has been lagging all year. The mega-caps have been driving the rest of the herd to rally, and that rally appears now to be broadening to include the smaller cap companies now. But markets are now three standard deviations above their moving averages, and at these extremes, upside becomes more limited. Don't be surprised to see markets actually relax a bit for a day or two for a correction back to the moving averages.
