Description

Reed Domingo is a charming man with an unbelievable story. Struggling to pay for the expensive costs of American IVF treatments, he found himself in debt to the tune of $250,000. When the situation became unbearable, Reed turned to bank robbery as a last resort, even going so far as to carry cyanide capsules in case he was ever caught.Having worked in a bank and undergone extensive training on how to handle robberies, Reed knew exactly how to exploit the system during his lunch breaks, walking away with tens of thousands of dollars each time. From a privileged background to resorting to desperate measures, Reed was determined to relieve himself and his family of the financial burdens that came with trying to have a child.Eventually, the FBI caught up with Reed, and he was arrested. In this episode, you'll hear all about how it happened and what followed. Reed's story is truly one of a kind, and he now lives a completely different life.Despite the shocking nature of his past, Reed has since dedicated his life to helping former convicts become better people. We appreciate him taking the time to share his story with us, and we hope you'll leave your thoughts in the comments section. Second Chance is a podcast series that explores the theme of second chance. It raises the questions who deserves a second chance, who decides who gets a second chance and what a second chance actually means. On this podcast we speak to people from all walks of life about their experiences, some who have been given a second chance in life, some who might be considered to be beyond deserving a second chance. The host of the podcast series is Raphael Rowe, host of the critically acclaimed series ‘Inside the World's Toughest Prisons’ on Netflix. He is also a former correspondent for the world's longest running BBC TV current affairs show Panorama the BBC Radio 4 Today programme as well as a regular contributor on The One Show and Sunday Morning Live on BBC One. In 1988, aged 20, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder and robbery he did not commit. In July 2000, after 12 years in prison, the Court of Appeal quashed his wrongful convictions and he was freed.
