The beginning verses from the ‘Sophia of Jesus Christ’ talks about an encounter between Jesus and his disciples after he had risen from the dead. They were gathered on a mountain and were confused about the nature of the universe, God's plan, and the higher powers that govern things.

Then, Jesus appeared to them, but not in his regular physical form. He appeared as a radiant and powerful spirit, almost like a great angel of light. He told them that he couldn't fully describe his appearance because it was too intense for mortal eyes. (this is similar to the Lord Krishna’s appearance, in the Bhagavad-Gita)

Jesus greeted them with peace and noticed they were puzzled. He asked them what they were thinking and searching for. Philip, one of the disciples, expressed their confusion about the nature of the universe and God's plan.

Jesus explained that throughout history, people have tried to understand God and the universe but haven't really succeeded. Even the smartest philosophers have made guesses based on how the world works, but they haven't really gotten to the truth. Some said the world is self-directed, some said it's guided by a higher power, and others said it's controlled by fate. But none of these ideas are entirely accurate.

Then, Jesus, who came from a place of infinite wisdom and light, said that he knows the truth. He's here to explain the real nature of things. He pointed out that anything that comes from itself is not truly pure or perfect. Providence, which means the way things are provided for or guided, doesn't always have wisdom. And fate, which is the idea that everything is predetermined, doesn't understand.

Jesus emphasized that his disciples are special because they have the opportunity to know the truth. He said that those who are deserving of this knowledge will receive it. He also mentioned that this knowledge comes from a higher source, the "First Who Was Sent," and that those who are connected to this source are like immortals among mortal people.

Matthew, one of the disciples, then asked Jesus to teach them the truth because they believed that only through Jesus could they truly find the answers they were seeking.
