Description
Police have been under attack by leftists who want it believed they just go into the law enforcement field as a means of imprisoning, beating and even murdering black and other minority youth. That's bunk. By and large, police do the heroic work of keeping communities safe, and for that, they should be commended and applauded. But sometimes, the systems in which police work allow them too much power, and that leads to abuses of power that are quite unconstitutional. Take civil asset forfeiture. Take no-knock warrants. And take the matter of a business owner in Los Angeles who was just trying to run his shop when a fugitive fleeing SWAT members ran into his business, threw him out and then fought against apprehension. SWAT members totally destroyed the business while pursuing the subject -- and then failed to pay for damages. City officials refused to pay, too. Jeff Redfern, an attorney with the Institute for Justice, is on the case.
