They discuss some of the groundbreaking studies presented at the conference and how the research can be translated into clinical practice. They talk about research on zero transmission, studies looking at the next steps in long-acting technologies, and findings from a clinical trial on the use of statins to prevent cardiovascular disease for those with HIV. They also explore the latest on doxycycline PEP for STI prevention and highlight findings from the ANCHOR study on anal cancer and how to prevent it in people with HIV. About Dr. Short and Dr. Armas-Kolostroubis William R. Short, MD, MPH, AAHIVS, is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also associate director of the HIV Clinical Trial Unit at the University of Pennsylvania and the co-director of the Clinical Core for the Penn Center for AIDS Research. He is chair of the board of directors of the American Academy of HIV Medicine.Laura Armas-Kolostroubis, MD, FACP, AAHIVS, is the founder and CEO of Human Centered Consulting and Care. In clinical practice for more than 20 years, Dr. Armas-Kolostroubis was a practicing physician and Chief Medical Officer at CAN Community Health, and she was a clinical director for the Texas/Oklahoma AIDS Education and Training Center.
