In Re Zero Season 2 of Episode 12 we see Subaru ask for help from Echidna and join The Witch at her tea party Echidna attempts to form a contract deal with Subaru but fails to do so as she is interrupted by the witch of Wrath and others.  Echidna just doesn't seem to understand human psychology and does not get the reasoning behind subaru's disappointment in her as she reveals to him her true nature.
