With The Boy and the Heron now nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2024 Oscars, Studio Ghibli's Hayao Miyazaki has tied for the most Oscar-nominated director ever in the category. The Boy and the Heron international distributor GKIDS confirmed that the film had been nominated for Best Animated Feature at this year's Oscars in a post to X (formerly Twitter).
