(7/6/23) Bonds have been under pressure of late as the Fed has begun talking again about needing to raise interest Rates. But interest rates on the long end are not controlled by the Fed; they're dictated by economic growth (or lack thereof). The Federal Reserve controls the short-end of the yield curve, and hiking interest rates does not necessarily mean long-term bonds will be so affected. A recession and a slower economy due to inflation will be factors driving the long-end of the curve. Bonds have never been this depressed since the start of the current century. Bond prices will rise and yields will fall with a slower economy, and that's the thing to watch for.
