Description
This episode features a discussion about how we understand the humanitarian duties we owe one another in times of crises, and in particular what might the private sector “owe” to others in times of emergency like the Covid-19 pandemic.
This is the fourth in a series of discussions on the ethics of humanitarian action. Held on 28 April 2023, the discussion was chaired by Simon Reed-Henry and organised by Kristoffer Liden.
The series is initiated by the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) initiated and the Norwegian Centre for Humanitarian Studies in collaboration with the International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) and the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict (ELAC). It relates to the project Red Lines and Grey Zones: Exploring the Ethics of Humanitarian Negotiations, led by Kristoffer Lidén at PRIO. This discussion is also part of the Theory Lab of the research project Co-duties: Democratic duties, collective action, and the greater good after Covid-19.
