It's very, very early in his career, but San Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey is already looking like the real deal. In just 18 games, Bailey has surpassed Joey Bart's career fWAR of 0.9, which took him 140 more games. Bailey made a perfect throw to catch a runner stealing in last night's Giants win over the Cardinals, and he also worked a dramatic 11-pitch at-bat that resulted in a double, and he eventually scored what would be the winning run.
Brandon Crawford continues to get big hits for the SF Giants as well. After he had seemingly lost his job with the emergence of Casey Schmitt, Schmitt has cooled off considerably at the plate with an overly aggressive approach that has led to non-competitive at-bats. So Crawford has been playing more and more lately, and he's brought strong defense and a clutch bat to the plate. He had a huge game-tying single as he collected two hits in the win last night.
Mitch Haniger is another SF Giants players who has generally struggled on the season, but has shown signs of life in recent weeks. Haniger had perhaps the two biggest hits of the game for the Giants, as both of his hits drove in runs in two-out situations, including a go-ahead single with two outs and an 0-2 count in the eighth.
