This week Alex & Ryan conclude their talk with film & TV director Laurie Collyer, in the second episode of a two-part series where they discuss Jerry Schatzberg's 1973 film "Scarecrow."

Laurie Collyer‘s credits include Sherrybaby (2006) which won numerous awards including the National Board of Review’s Award for Top Independent Film in 2006 and a Golden Globe nomination for actress Maggie Gyllenhaal; the documentary Nuyorican Dream (1999) which received much acclaim including a DGA nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement and a Grand Jury Prize nomination at the Sundance Film Festival; Sunlight Jr. (2013) starring Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon which premiered at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival; and the miniseries The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe for Lifetime TV, for which she was nominated for another DGA Award. In televison she has directed multiple episodes of Showtime's Billions, NBC's Law & Order: SVU and Apple TV+'s The Me You Can't See.

Scarecrow is a 1973 American road movie directed by Jerry Schatzberg and starring Gene Hackman and Al Pacino. The story involves the relationship between two men who travel from California seeking to start a business in Pittsburgh. At the 1973 Cannes Film Festival, the film tied for the Grand Prix du Festival International du Film, the highest honor. While it fared poorly commercially, Scarecrow later gained cult status. In a review of Scarecrow upon its 2013 rerelease, Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian described the film as "a freewheeling masterpiece," describing Hackman and Pacino as giving "the performances of their lives." Peter Biskind has described the film as of "secondary" significance in his book Easy Riders, Raging Bulls.

Alex Keledjian
Alex Keledjian is the creator of Project Greenlight, a documentary television series where executive producers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck gave first-time filmmakers a chance to direct their first feature film.   In 2018, Alex wrote and directed the film High Voltage starring David Arquette and Luke Wilson.
