Description

In episode four, Johnny talks to Cameo England. One of New Zealand's last working cinema projectionists, Cameo is the Film & Technical Manager at the glorious Hollywood Avondale, where she regularly projects 35mm prints of movie classics. Cameo has worked in cinemas since the mid-2000s, where she learnt to project film in the pre-digital era, and now shares that skill with cinema audiences in Auckland.

Our horror-heavy conversation was recorded in October 2022 - just in time for Halloween - and covers topics such as the films of Dario Argento, Wong Kar-wai and Robert Eggers, and the challenge of recreating the end of INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS with Putin instead of Hitler.

The short film THERESE, produced by Cameo and directed by Gorjan Markovski, can be viewed on Vimeo here: https://vimeo.com/713092169.

The episode of the SOMETHING WICKED podcast mentioned in the outro, where hosts Lee and Dave discuss the turbulent relationship between Roger Waters and David Gilmour in Pink Floyd, can be found here: https://podcasts.apple.com/nz/podcast/the-something-wicked-podcast/id1443949532?i=1000582050417.

Many thanks to James Van As, who wrote and performed the brilliant music (check out James' superb iPhone game Loco Looper), and Willow Van As who designed the amazing artwork and provided general podcast support.
