The Cincinnati Reds bullpen had already been overworked from the Philadelphia Phillies series, then Hunter Greene left early in the first game with the Tampa Bay Rays. Buck Farmer, Alex Young, Ian Gibaut, and Kevin Herget rose to the occasion, though, and allowed just one run over six innings as the Reds beat the Rays. The Reds bullpen was efficient and effective against a hot Rays lineup. The Reds lineup also stayed hot as Kevin Newman broke out and TJ Friedl had four RBI. Jose Barrero also made an impressive play with a RBI-double and brilliant slide to get to third on the throw in. Hunter Greene got good news after leaving the game early due to getting hit in the shin with a line drive. Lucas Sims also got good injury news and the Reds have a concerning fielding statistic early on this season.
