LaKendra Huckaby is a colorful, exuberant artist that specializes in digital as well as traditional portraits and abstract masterpieces dedicated to showing the beauty that comes with being a person of color. Born and raised in Columbus, GA, she has been creating professionally since 2010 when she opened her art business, Huck Designs.
Originally deciding to pursue Graphic Design at the start of her college career, LaKendra quickly decided to make the switch to illustration and painting where she found a love drenched in colorful patterns and hues often reminiscent of the childlike passion and wonder she refused to lose.
Since beginning her journey into what she does today, LaKendra has had several interviews with companies including Instagram. She's also created work for multiple celebrity clients as well as participated in many art shows across the country. Her work has allowed her to connect with communities and people from all walks of life in ways she never thought possible including through the acts of teaching and service.
With the passion and fire burning deep within her, she sees no signs of ever stopping as her eventual goal is to open a large group of urban art centers all over the country which will allow communities to come together and unite through the act of creation.
