Description
Today we hail from the rainy woods of Texas where, not long from now, you may have the chance to hear an ol' rope draggin' gobbler sound off from his early morning roost. Some areas are literally "flocking" with birds, while others are devoid of even the softest yelp. It sometimes seems (especially on social media) that the eastern half of Texas is possibly the only place in the lower 48 that doesn't have birds. On a quest for answers as to why this is, we were luck enough to sit down with Annie Farrell and Jackson Harris of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF). We came looking for answers, and left with much more. Annie and Jackson are two young people full of energy, positivity, and a passion for wild turkeys. We are now proud to call both of them friends.
Annie is a biologist based in East Texas. She works hard on conservation on both public and private land, habitat improvements, and restocking efforts. She is originally from Georgia and graduated from The University of Georgia.
