Description
The challenge for supply chain leaders now, with all the disruptions and uncertainties that the covid-19 pandemic has brought about, is having to predict the unpredictable. While scenario planning and stockpiling have been long celebrated as effective short-term and long-term risk mitigation strategies, building and incorporating reactive capacity is a strategy that hasn't been fully explored. In this session, Professor Jeannette Song of Duke University and Professor Jordan Tong of Wisconsin University join us to discuss why organizations must consider building reactive capacity in conjunction with holding safety stock to best deal with random demand surges. They argue that utilizing both strategies while emphasizing scenario planning activities could be critical in preparing for the next black swan event.
