Description

Imagine:
What would you do if you couldn't pull out a carrot you had planted? Who would you call to help you? How would you feel if you didn’t succeed? How might you celebrate if you did? Today’s story is about group effort and asking for help – even from the most unlikely places or, in this case, animals.
This story contains a half-cup of French! Bon appétit!
About today's Storyteller:
Chantale Groulx is a French and English actor in Toronto from Montreal. Twelve years of heading a children’s theatre company Stories Come to Life, and doing French storytime at Toronto Public Libraries have helped Chantale keep her goal of keeping French alive in Ontario for herself and kids, embracing this expressive language. Currently, she keeps busy doing theatre, TV, film and voiceover work in both languages. Les mots sont délicieux! Words are delicious.
Check out these French/English phrases from today's story:

Un printemps un fermier a planter des grains de carottes: One Spring a farmer plants carrot seeds.
Le fermier s’accroche à la carotte. “S’accroche.” This is a delicious French word because you really need to slow down to say it. The meaning, “to attach, to latch onto”, is exactly how it sounds: “Il s’accroche.”

Merci beaucoup!
