The Miami Hurricanes have hired Lance Guidry as their new defensive coordinator. The news broke on Tuesday afternoon and was first reported by Gary Ferman at CaneSport. Guidry spent the past two seasons leading an excellent defense at Marshall. He accepted the DC job at Tulane on January 17th, but was just "intercepted" by Mario Cristobal. 
Guidry's Marshall defenses ranked in the top 10 or top 5 in virtually every statistical category. He is known for his aggressive philosophy and playcalling. Guidry's name had not come up in any speculation until shortly before the hire was made, showing how Mario Cristobal worked this search in silence. The defensive coordinator job came open on Sunday night, when Kevin Steele left for the same position at Alabama. Will Miami have a new offensive coordinator soon?
