Description
This year James Mathis took on the inaugural year of the Dark Anchor by Jason Green's Yeti Trail Runners in Savannah, Georgia. He was one of the many Floridians who took on the 3.34 mile course! He went out there and crushed it for 50 miles and a new distance PR! He was, as always, rocking the Team Beef Florida gear and we dive into that, some craft beer, and how the race went down!
James has done races like the River-to-Sea, the Skunk Ape Night Run, the Sandridge, Azalea 12 Hr, and the Seven Trails Ultra Festival! He's also your man at the Fire Berm aid station at the Skunk Ape's Revenge!
The Dark Anchor takes place at the Wormsloe State Park and follows a 3.34 mile course for 34 Hours! There is a small out-n-back on live oak ave (think Forest Gump!) as this view never gets old. An Anchor with the words 'Refuse to sink' is a firm sign of hope to hold on to. It means that an individual will not let a struggle become an anchor in stopping them to reach their goals. . It can be referenced back to a bible verse, "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure".
Enjoy!
