Alex Ovechkin became the third NHL player to score 800 career goals Tuesday as the Washington Capitals beat the Chicago Blackhawks 7-3. Ovechkin scored three times in the game, earning him the milestone and leading the Capitals to their fifth straight win. In other games, Nicholas Bonino continued his scoring streak to help lead the Sharks to victory, Jonathan Marchessault scored twice on the power play to lift the Vegas Golden Knights over the Winnipeg Jets, and Ilya Samsonov made 29 saves for his first NHL shutout as the Toronto Maple Leafs shut out the Anaheim Ducks. Zach Hyman had a hat trick for the Edmonton Oilers in their win over the Nashville Predators, and the Colorado Avalanche and Philadelphia Flyers provided a close game with Artturi Lehkonen scoring a short-handed goal for the Avalanche. The Carolina Hurricanes and Detroit Red Wings also faced off, with the Hurricanes coming out on top. The Dallas Stars and New Jersey Devils played a close game as well, with Scott Wedgewood making 35 saves against his former team to lead the Stars to victory.
