Description

On today's episode, Jason gets the party started with a deep dive into the Cincinnati Bengals big win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Joe Burrow is now 3-0 against Patrick Mahomes in his career (and firmly in the NFL MVP race), and more importantly, has completely shaken up the AFC playoff race. With Baltimore Ravens' quarterback Lamar Jackson set to miss some time, Burrow's Bengals are suddenly a dark horse contender for the top overall seed. In the NFC, the San Francisco 49ers rolled over Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dophins, but at what cost? Jimmy Garoppolo is out for the season and now the Niners' Super Bowl hopes rest on the unproven shoulders of Brock Purdy. San Francisco proved in their win over Miami that they still have a talented enough roster to win even with mediocre quarterback play but the playoffs are a different story altogether. The Niners loss, however, could be the Dallas Cowboys gain. Dak Prescott and the Boys steamrolled the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night and are now right in the thick of things in the race for the top seed in the NFC Playoffs. Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles are still clearly the team to beat in the conference but you have to think that Dallas is next in line now that San Francisco is down to their third-string quarterback. Later, J-Mac explains why Sunday's NFL slate (specifically the losses by the New York Jets and Los Angeles Chargers & the wins by the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks) was a friendly reminder that it's hard to tell which teams are actually good. There are a handful of obvious Super Bowl contenders, but there are a TON of teams that look great one week and horrible the next.
