Description

Negril was originally named Xtabi: "The meeting place of the Gods," by the Arawaks one of Jamaica’s native Taino Tribes. Cut off from the rest of the island by wetlands, and tidal marshes with dense waterlogged soil, it was a secluded paradise , where the Arawaks lived in harmony with the land of Wood and Water, a land they inhabited for thousands of years and felt a deep spiritual connection with. Then the foreigners came. Will history repeat itself? Rootsland is produced by Henry K Productions Inc. in association with Voice Boxx Studios in Kingston, Jamaica. Presented by Henry K, Rootsland is a new podcast series that explores the story of two friends who take a musical and spiritual journey from the suburbs of Long Island to the streets of Kingston, Jamaica. Narrated by the man himself, Henry “K” Karyo, Rootsland tells musical stories of landscapes that span styles and genres, and transport the listeners to exotic locations. The story follows Henry, a disillusioned justice major at American University, and Brian, an aspiring singer, as they navigate the world of reggae music, from label to location.
