This week on The Road The Stage we bring you a great interview with Daniel Monkman. Daniel is responsible for the project Zoon, and the Polaris Music Prize Shortlist record Bleached Wavves. Released early in the pandemic, Daniel and Zoon are finally about to hit the road to show Bleached Wavves across Canada and parts of the US. Patrick Bateman and Peter Michaels get to know more about Daniel Monkman, as well as the impact My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless has had on his music and listening habits. It’s not every episode we get to spend so much time discussing an album that means an immense amount to both Patrick and Daniel.
We also can’t forget Daniel’s other band OMBIIGIZI, a new collaborative project with Adam Sturgeon AKA Status/Non-Status - the new album Sewn Back Together is out now. OMBIIGIZI means “She/He is loud” in Anishinaabe and the record provides listeners with an in-depth journey through the music minds of Monkman and Sturgeon. Check it out.
