There's been an extraordinary counter-offensive in the war in Ukraine in the past few days, with Ukrainian troops successfully retaking 3,000 square kilometres of land and a key town in the north-east of the country. 

But in Russia, the advances have been largely ignored by President Vladimir Putin, whose propaganda machine is in overdrive. 

Today, correspondent with The New York Times, Valerie Hopkins, on life in Moscow, as the war rages on the other side of the border.
