China's rapid expansion of its military and recent exercises in the Taiwan Strait have heightened concern that Beijing might be preparing to invade Taiwan.
The Chinese ambassador to Australia, Xiao Qian, has added to that worry, by saying 'all means necessary' will be used to reunify the island with the mainland if the Taiwanese resist.
