The federal government accused Packers Sanitation Services, Inc. of using dozens of children (some as young as 13-years-old) to carry out dangerous assignments in slaughterhouses. Apparently the "yougins" were given the "graveyard" shift to complete their assignments, and NBC reports that some of these children worked 6 to 7 days per week. "School records showed that one 14-year-old, who worked at the Grand Island facility from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. five to six days a week, from December 2021 to this past April, fell asleep in class and missed school after suffering injuries from chemical burns," reports NBC.
