On May 14, 2015, three members of the wealthy Savopoulos family- Savvas, Amy, and their son Philip, as well as their housekeeper, Vera Figueroa, were killed in their home in Washington DC. The victims were held hostage for 19 hours. Ten year old Philip was tortured in order to coerce $40,000 in cash from the family. They were restrained with duct tape before being killed, then the house was set on fire.
