Welcome to a brand new episode of the ¿Quién Tú Eres? podcast, where our mission is to redefine professionalism. Each week, we have a new guest join us for a candid conversation around the conflict they have experienced between "professionalism" & being our authentic selves. This week's guest, Roberto "Beto" Rizo,  is a US born Mexican that moved to the US at the age of 17 from Jalisco, Mexico. He is an advocate of multiculturalism and a believer that we can transcend cultural barriers through communication and compassion.
Beto produces and hosts ¿Qué te tomas? Podcast - a show created to offer a space for latinx immigrants and first-gen to share their stories of adversity, success, growth, and realization and explore the idea of identity. The two goals of the show are to change the perception of the “forever suffering immigrant” by showing that we can make it big and thrive in the US, and to help listeners discover a deeper love for their cultures, their background, and themselves.
Today, Roberto is the Northern California Field Representative for U.S. Senator Alex Padilla—the first ever Latino elected to represent CA in the US Senate—where he oversees government relations strategy for half of California's geographic area. He is responsible for developing key relationships and fostering collaboration across all levels of government, business, community groups, and the general public.
Most recently, at the CA Secretary of State he managed outreach campaigns engaging over ten million people in different target markets, including Latinx, Black, Asian and other underrepresented communities.
In his spare time he does stand-up comedy as an artistic outlet. Through his comedy, he shares his experience as an immigrant navigating US culture and laughs at the inequalities in society that are hidden in plain sight. As an actor he is currently signed to perform in the 2022-2023 season with the Sacramento Theater Company.
