Today we take you from Greece to Athens and many other places in-between as we welcome the new Director of Track and Field for University of Illinois to the show. Petros grew up on the island of Cyprus as a decathlete. His life changed when his coach said he couldn't coach him anymore because he wasn't good enough. He bottled that disappointment into a coaching career that eventually led to the US. With stops at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Boise State, and Georgia, Petros became one of the top jumps and combined events coaches in the country. Winning multiple team titles at the University of Georgia, we discuss feelings of burnout that led him to stepping back away from NCAA coaching. After a year as a professional coach and working with Episcopal High School in Jacksonville, Fla., Petros climbed back into the NCAA world overseeing the Fighting Illini program.
