There was an incident during Inter's game against Sampdoria when the entire upper tier of the north section of the Meazza was vacated, mainly by the Curva members leaving in some form of protest. 
There were rumors that fans, who were not even part of the curva but seated in that section, were forced to leave, which, if true, is clearly not great. 
We also often read articles that players directly address the curva or club directors respond to questions from such groups. I was curious if can groups like the Curva Nord, Sud, etc. hold a unique place and position of power in Serie A and Italian football compared to other leagues, or do they have counterparts in the Premier League, Liga, etc.? 
Do such groups make the experience richer in the stadia or are they a relic from a bygone era with some of their controversial viewpoints?
