Description
On this week’s Cut to the Race Podcast, Oli is joined by Abby, James and Sam for their review of the Mexico City Grand Prix.
Formula 1 headed to Mexico with both championships settled, but there is still plenty to play for elsewhere. Sergio Pérez and Charles Leclerc still locked in a close battle for second in the championship - with the former also hoping for a first-ever win on home soil - whilst Max Verstappen was looking for a record-breaking 14th victory of the season.
The panel discuss the news that broke over the weekend, including Christian Horner and Red Bull's response to their penalty for breaching the cost cap and the team's boycott of Sky Sports, before taking on Oli's 'Confusing F1 Quiz', which featured some out-of-order questions and more driver-name switching to break Sam's brain.
And then it was back to the track for the quartet. With Mercedes having shown some legitimate pace in the thin air of Mexico City and Ferrari having gradually lost their way, it would prove to be a 2021-esque battle between Red Bull and Mercedes.
Did the former Constructors' Champions make the wrong decision on strategy? Was there a way for anyone to beat Verstappen? Where did the Daniel Ricciardo of old suddenly reappear from? And, of course, what were the panel's weekend ratings and who were their drivers of the day?
