Ray Smith is the historian for the city of Oak Ridge, TN, the Y-12 National Security Complex (retired) and a subject matter expert on The Manhattan Project. He is also a Vietnam Veteran. The Manhattan Project was code name for the research and development undertaking that produced the worlds first nuclear weapons, with the goal of ending World War II.
