Description
We continue 2001: A Horrortober Odyssey with a film that started its life as a spec script for The X-Files then ends up being directed and written by two of the show's most influential writers, only later to become a horror franchise: Final Destination. The movie follows Devon Sawa as Alex Browning, a teenager who, alongside his classmates, narrowly avoids an airline disaster due to his premonition of the accident. One by one, they are then picked off by a vengeful Death who makes one thing clear throughout the film and the entire series: you can never truly cheat death. While not the best entry into the series, it's a compelling idea and worthy opening for the franchise. OughtFive Film's Father Malone joins Chris to talk about the film's tv roots, the acting powerhouse that is Devon Sawa, and the franchise's later entries. You can follow Chris Stachiw at @Casualty_Chris and the Kulturecast @kulturecast.
