Description
Jess Byard June nears its conclusion with a look one of the Friday the 13th films that seem to care less about continuity and canon and more about giving the viewer tits and gore: Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. The film follows the further exploits of Tommy Jarvis, the young boy who killed Jason Voorhees in the previous film, as he is now a troubled adult who begins to hallucinate that Jason is still alive possibly. These hallucinations follow him to a summer camp-like halfway house where carnage, nudity, and drug use seemingly wakes the silent killer once more. It's an interesting entry into a franchise not known for taking risks with some of those risks paying off and others falling completely flat. Award-winning screenwriter and namesake of the month Jess Byard joins Chris to talk fake Jason, the use of nudity in the film, and where it stands in the overall franchise. You can follow Chris Stachiw at @KultureStach and the Kulturecast @kulturecast.
