Description
When a childhood dream to become a ‘store lady’ didn’t pan out, Kamala Parks looked to other areas for inspiration. While attending school she began booking tours for bands such as the Offspring, Neurosis, Operation Ivy and Green Day, and was instrumental in the creation and growth of legendary DIY punk club 924 Gilman Street. Discovering a love for city planning, she became involved in transportation planning and engineering, and after a stint in the private sector, became senior planner for the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit). In our engrossing conversation we talk about touring, Robert Moses, the Satanic Temple and so much more. Check it out!

02 Chris Gethard - Comedian/Actor/Podcaster (Suburban NJ Punk Scene): Can attending suburban basement shows lead to success as a professional broadcaster? Chris Gethard wasn’t in a band but he takes a very punk rock approach to his career. His Beautiful Anonymous Podcast, Career Suicide HBO Special and The Chris Gethard Show are all one-of-a-kind creations each with it’s own cult following. Chris gets into how growing up around underground music led to underground comedy and ultimately a DIY approach to more mainstream show business. We dig into aspects of his behavior that have persisted since childhood, heartbreaking revelations and just how difficult it is to make it as a professional entertainer. by Killed by Desk
