Patrick’s background is in geology, and always found the subject fascinating. This stood him in good stead when he went to college, and subsequently was recruited by Western Mining in Australia.
Sunrise began as a diamond exploration concern. After working in this market, Sunrise realised that raising capital was difficult, and so broadened its focus.

Sunrise’s main consumers are ready-mix companies, who use pozzolan in concrete, which is a vital ingredient in fly ash. Pozzolan has a value similar to cement in terms of money. It doesn’t stand huge transport differences, and is mainly used in the USA.
Mine permitting is key for Sunrise in the future, which will allow for production to begin in earnest when 2020 arrives. Agreements with utility providers, and sourcing water for projects are also high on the agenda.
