Description

From Orange County and San Diego, through Oxnard and Santa Maria, and up to Watsonville, strawberries have been grown on the coast for years. For 2021 there are projected to be over 36,000 acres planted between the fall and summer seasons. This makes strawberries consistently one of the top 10 agricultural commodities grown in California.

Strawberries are irrigated in several ways. What you use to irrigate them, how you irrigate and when you irrigate all make a difference in the quality and yield of the strawberries you grow. In addition, new technology shows how proper irrigation improves pest management as well. This week we are taking a hard look at the best ways to irrigate strawberries with Frank Toves. You will leave the session knowing the steps you need to take to maximize your strawberry yields.

In this session, you will learn:
What type of irrigation is best for your row sizing
If you should use overhead sprinklers or switch to drip
If you use overhead sprinklers, when is the best time to switch to drip irrigation
What flow rates to use to increase yields
Which micro-sprinklers work best for pest management for strawberries.
This will be an information-packed session, and we are looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday.Special Guest: Frank Toves.
