On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick answers questions from listeners about the state of the San Francisco Giants. Among the questions asked and answered are: Are the Giants actually . . . good? Where do you think the Giants will end their playoff run? Even if they make it, since the NL west is so stacked. If Johnny Cueto ends up missing time with an injury, who do you think should be called into the rotation? Also, do you think a lengthy injury to a starter so soon in the season could derail the momentum that the team seems to be building? Is Evan Longoria due for a bounce back year? His batted ball data from 2020 was really promising (reminded me of pre-2020 Marcell Ozuna) and so far he’s looked really good, which we love to see. Who’s due for a hot streak? Do the Giants see Heliot Ramos as a CF option, or strictly as a corner OF? Are the Giants considering sending Mauricio Dubón down and bringing Ramos up? Should we be worried about how much Gabe Kapler and the Giants are relying on Tyler Rogers and Jake McGee early on? They clearly don’t trust other relievers in high leverage situations, but how big of a concern is workload management this early in the season? Nitpicking, but why not bat Brandon Belt low in the order until he catches up from his missed spring training at bats? He’s lost at the plate for obvious reasons. Perfect player to take a walk in front of the nine hole. When he gets hot, you move him back to the three hole.
